2009 National Heritage Week

The Athlone Architectural Heritage Group held an 'Old Athlone' exhibition in St. Mary's Hall on Saturday 22nd August as part of their participation in National Heritage Week. The exhibition comprised of photos and memorabilia of Athlone's past history, architecture and famous personalities. The exhibition at which the newly reformed Athlone Pipe Band performed was officially opened by local historian, Mr. Jimmy O'Connor. The Athlone Architectural Heritage Group's website, www.athloneheritage.com was also officially launched at the event.
