sad day for Athlone's heritage
Athlone Town Council have commenced work on the controversial
contemporary art gallery at Fr Mathew Hall. Today, contractors
are working at removing trees fro the promenade to make way
for building works.
Despite our lengthy campaign, Athlone Town Council are proceeding
with site development and building works. The Town Council
have refused to let us see the OPW lease they claim to have,
even after requesting this under the Freedom of Information
Act and payment of relevant fees!
