Corpus Christi Church

  Location: Ganly Place, off Pearse Street.



A Victorian Gothic Revival church, built on the site of the Priory of SS Peter and Paul, dating from the thirteenth century. In 1804 the Church of Ireland erected a church on this site. It was demolished to allow construction of the present church in 1843.

The church was closed by the Church of Ireland in 1941 and used as a church hall and later as a warehouse until donated to Roman Catholic Church in 1992. The church grounds was donated as a public park in 1985. It is in use as a Catholic Church in the Tridentine Rite.
